Just back from a great trip out in the West Coast with Bike Track People. We were doing some skills coaching with the aid of the forest track at schools in Rothesay and Dunnoon to help promote cycle proficiency and road safety.

Great trip, great company, nice bunch of teachers, well behaved kids and fab weather too.

Oh! and school dinners have improved massively since I were a lad!

How wet was it last weekend?

After a great week of weather for building the timber structures, clearing and fettling the track the rain hit Innerleithen on Friday and it never stopped. No worries, everyone got on with the job and had a great weekend, the riders loved the track and it was a brilliant weekend of racing despite the weather.

Great job everyone who helped to make it a great event. To all my fellow volunteers on the Innerleithen MTB Racing team who put in many hours of organisation over the past few months. Steve Deas at iCycles for the overall track design, line choices and help with the track building, Rich and the Bike Track People for building the timber features and help with the track too, and all the many volunteers who helped with the event itself, without you it just wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.

On a personal note, I had a great week working with all the guys building the track and jumps pity the weather turned all our efforts to a muddy soup. However the track seemed to hold up pretty well under the circumstances!

This is my favourite photo from the whole weekend. It just captures the mood!

Here’s a couple of links to the IXS video diary of the event. Enjoy!

Awesome week of weather while fettling the trails and setting up for the King and Queen of the Hill. The event is sponsored by POC & Alpine Bikes. Several long days put in but I had an absolute ball working with all my friends and the local volunteers. It wouldn’t happen without there support.

Here’s a few well chosen shots that capture the spirit of the event and one of my best weeks at work in a long time.

Snowed at the top of hill this morning! The final round in the series is a downhill race. Up early again to help set up the track for the event. Despite the bitter cold the guys enjoyed a great days racing.

Brilliant series, thanks to all the guys from Inners MTB Racing for making it a memorable winter series.

Long days spent on the hill in the cold at the day and night enduro but it was a blast. Cold, damp, muddy conditions riding four tracks in day light and in the dark......what's not to like?

Well done to all of the 150+ riders who turned out for the event.

January brings along the Alpine Bikes winter series and were back out supporting the event with our Inners MTB Racing hat on. Bloody cold days spent taping tracks and setting up for the event, great days though and great feedback from all the riders.

Big smiles all round!

Its been a little quieter of late, which has meant that I've been able to get out on the bike more :)

Most of the trail building activity in the last couple of months has been with the Trailfairies cracking on with various projects but the weather has hampered progress on some projects. This doesn’t mean we've been slacking off though!

We've been busy with Neil and the TweedLove team on the planning process for TweedLove 2012. We've got a great team who've been really busy working on next years program with some great new events on offer too. We hope to being you a big new all mountain race using some of the best of the Glentress trails and some not so well known natural singletrack too.

Look out for the Tweedlove premier of "From the Inside Out" at the Eastgate Theater in Peebles on the 12th December 2011.

Be sure to check out the Tweedlove website for the latest news

Some of the team pictured below during the planning stage (arsing about in the woods more like!)

As a volunteer with the Glentress Trailfairies we've been busy over the summer. We've completed a number of resurfacing jobs, notably on a section of Magic Mushroom and some drainage problems on the Dougie Bank climb.

We also started to re-route a section of trail on the lower part of Pennels Vennel on the red route which should be completed in early 2012.

There's also been a lot of cake eaten!
